A project developed in conjunction with BMG studio, I worked as the design project lead from initial concept to completion. La Belleza is an Italian restaurant based in the beautiful city of Lille. The brief was a throwback to a forgotten Italian courtyard. The restaurant has a large Art Deco façade, and is located down a narrow cobbled street lined with beautiful 18th-century buildings. The interior space draws influence from old Italian delis, and has the full height of its walls filled with products, which serves as a grandiose back bar and service station. The kitchen and most of the dining spaces are on the ground floor, and there is also a gallery dining area, almost theatrical in style. Big Mamma Lille has warmth and genuine feel of a bygone era.
